After struggling with my electric/hydraulic unit, (wasn't powerful enough, parts on back order) I decided to purchase a larger unit. While surfing on the net, I found the American Log splitter 12t man/air, it was appox the same price as my old one. I decided to give it a try before purchasing a gas unit, which are well over $1000.00.
 I ordered it and received it in a few days, I had appox 21 logs that my old splitter couldn't split, I told the 12t man/air splitter, that if it could split all of them, it could stay. Well, right now my 12t splitter is in the barn, waiting for more wood to split.

I received the 8-ton mini splitter yesterday.  I was pretty much able to take it straight from the box and begin using despite myself being very mechanically challenged.  :)   I was quite simply amazed at what it did.  It exceeded all expectations.  We will see how it holds up over time, but as of now I would recommend to anyone that is looking for a green alternative to one of those awful mauls.

Thank you for an excellent product.  I've already used my new 8-ton log splitter a half dozen times.  I've split black locust on two occasions, which is pretty hard wood, and the splitter had no difficulty.  I would recommend this product in a heart beat.  My wife and I enjoy a fire in our fireplace every Friday, Saturday & Sunday evenings through the fall & winter months.  Thanks again for this fantastic log splitter, which makes the task so much easier and enjoyable.

I purchased your 8-ton splitter this fall. I didn't get the air compressor upgrade.  I don't need it!  I'm a 59 yr old, 5 ft tall, 105 lb woman.  All I can say is WOW! I live on some acreage & cut my own firewood for a wood stove.  Splitting the large logs has always been difficult.  This little baby just cracks right through gnarly old black jack, hickory, oak & just about anything else I can want to put in it.  Even impossible elm is no match if I go at it small slices at at time.  What joy to hear that CRACK! No more splitting wedge & sledge hammer for me!  My son is a mechanical engineer & he is very impressed with the heavy construction and overall quality. Anyone thinking about buying one of these, don't worry.  You will be extremely satisfied!

I can't believe the size of wood this splitter handles. I had a tree taken down that was at
least 24" in dia at the main trunk that I cut in 18" lengths. I haven't
found anything that the splitter wouldn't go thru. I think if I can get
it on the splitter it will take care of it.

Just wanted to let you know the splitter arrived the day you said it would be here. I took it out of the package and started using it that day. The unit works real well and gives me the right amount of exercise to stay healthy. My doctor told me to exercise a half hour a day, that sounds like work. Now I kill two birds with one stone, I split wood for a half hour and get my exercise and heat our house at the same time. I would not be afraid to recommend this splitter to anyone.

I received the 12-ton log splitter I ordered BEFORE Christmas (thank you!). My husband has been outside splitting the pile of WET wood that has been in our driveway for over a month, and has almost found the bottom of the pile.  He said he split about 1/2 cord in 2 hours!! He has a cardiac history, and is THRILLED that he no longer has to rely on our 2 boys for help or swing an axe - he can transport AND operate this splitter by himself. THANK YOU!  We are SO happy we found this product - much smaller than the giant gas powered splitters, more economical that electric (since our rates are increasing 50% in January - YIKES!!).Can you tell we're thrilled!!

My father-in-law for whom I bought the log splitter is 82 years old. He was splitting his fire wood with a maul but was finding it increasingly harder to do. I received my 8 ton splitter today and just finished trying it out on a few logs.  All I can say is, WOW!.  This is too easy, almost like  cheating.  I had a few logs that absolutely refused to split with my maul. We received the splitter yesterday, and my father-in-law was very impressed with the packaging. Very sturdy he said, without even a dent in the boxes. This after ordering and receiving a 5 Ton electric splitter where the box and all the inside packing was practically destroyed when it arrived. That splitter wouldn't even dent a piece of mesquite, so it was returned to the seller. Here's what my father-in-law had to say about your 12-Ton splitter:"This is the one. This is the log we barely made a dent in before. This thing marched right on thru it. So it passed the hardwood test. It will split anything we throw at it now I am sure. One tip:
Sometimes with a tough piece of wood it will split suddenly and fly quite a distance (10-15 feet). I keep a small length of rope handy for logs which don't start splitting immediately, just wrap it around 2 or 3 times and secure with just one rope over the other (like the first motion in tying a shoestring - friction does the trick no real knot necessary). This protects delicate items to the side - like flower pots or coffee cups - the wood makes the big noise but doesn't go anywhere. This makes it real safe - a few weeks ago with a sunny spell and summer coming up I was able to accomplish my splitting chores in the nude - something I certainly wouldn't attempt with a hammer and wedge!

This note is long overdue. I want to enthusiastically thank you for your fine splitters and your top notch customer service. I originally purchased a foot powered heavy duty unit dirctly from Ed at his shop in North Denver.

I purchased the splitter to keep from wreaking my upper back. I used to love splitting with an axe but a upper back defect makes it not the best activity for me; actually it's one of the worst things I can do for my back

I have heated my house with wood since 1971. A friend used to split my wood for me in trade for electrical work. Recently it has been harder and harder to get him to do it . Splitting must be taking a toll on him too! So I've had to do my own splitting again. I found the foot powered splitter to work quite nicely, saving the noise and expense of a gas powered unit. I subsequently purchased an air powered splitter as I own a 2 HP compressor. I find it to wook quite well. Now I use both splitters. I use the foot powered unit if I have short material or if I don't feel like getting into the shop, hooking up the air hose etc. My wife also preferrs the foot model although she also uses the air unit. Having Jan able to help with the splitting really helps and is only made possible by your fine products. I have mounted both splitters on a low heavy bench about 14-16 inches high. I find this makes using either model much easier with less bending. I also use a pry bar to complete the split once the splitter cracks the wood. This speeds up the process. I don't have to move the platform as far as one does if the wedge must complete the splitting. I greatly appreciate your company, your simple products are well thought out, are fun to use and perform quite well. Your coustomer service is second to none. I wish you made more type of machines and appliances I could buy!

I recently purchased your 6 ton mini splitter and have to echo the comments of your other customer letters. I was a little apprehensive about how well it would work prior to my splitter arriving. However once I used it and discovered how easy and labor free it is I told several of my friends about it.I've always split wood by using an ax with wedges and a heavy sledgehammer, after using the mini splitter I wasn't exhausted and sweating in the cold weather. This is a great product that's well designed and crafted.

I just recently purchased your 8 ton air/hydraulic minisplitter and I've used it every day since receiving it last week. I was getting ready to spend $900 on a gasoline powered splitter, when I came across your product. I checked out some of your "mini" splitter competition and what really sold me on your splitter were the letters from your customers and the slide show detailing how the splitter worked. I have to say it has definitely exceeded my expectations. Even with the 90+ degree weather and high humidity we have been having lately the splitter performed very well. I went through every problem, knot covered log I had and it split every single one. I was a little nervous at fist investing in something that was less than half the cost of the splitter I wanted. But, I am definitely not nervous now and I have $600 extra dollars in my pocket!

We purchased a Heavy Duty Mini Splitter from you a few months ago. We have used it several times to split LARGE pieces of wood and it works great!!! We are so glad we found it since it works so well. It is ideal for splitting hard, large pieces of wood and would recommend it. Even though it takes two people to lift the wood since it is so large, the Mini Splitter splits it without a problem.

I received my Mini Splitter assembled it, and started to use it. Great idea, this thing, it is really simple to use, and my 8 y/o son and 10 y/o daughter both enjoyed splitting wood - supervised, of course, with my help setting the large pieces in place. We managed to split 5 large pieces, each into 10-12 logs. That's about 50-55 splits, but I think we did better than that, what with stops, interruptions, and fights over whose turn it was next. Overall, I am very satisfied with the Mini Splitter It is portable, so I can move it around from place to place on my property. I did not have any problems with tip over. I did have one log literally fly apart when split, but I had already taught the kids to stand opposite the Mini Splitter - with the log between them and the tower - so it flew apart to the sides from the axis of the split, and no one was in any danger of getting hurt. The kids enjoy using it, and in fact are eager to come outside and do some splitting. Wow, kids who want to do chores! Thank you!!
